Local Interests/Attractions
The Brecon Beacons offers a wide range of outdoor activities. Walking, cycling, mountain biking and pony trekking are the mainstream activities, but the Brecon Beacons are also a major centre for canoeing, caving, rock climbing and abseiling, and other perhaps more unusual activities such as hang gliding, gorge walking and rafting. The lake at Llangorse is ideal for all types of water sport, including sailing, wind surfing and water skiing.
The canal towpath just outside our grounds is on many walking, cycle and mountain biking routes, including the Taff Trail and Lon Las Cymru, the cross Wales section of the National Cycle Network (Route 8). Footpaths lead to the river giving pleasant easy walks along its bank.
Historic Brecon town has a range of pubs, restaurants, takeaways and entertainment to satisfy most tastes and pockets, together with a Leisure Centre, Cinema, Theatre and Cathedral, and all within safe easy walking distance of the Bunkhouse. As an alternative why not a take a pleasant stroll or bike ride along the Canal towpath and have lunch, or an early evening meal, at one of the excellent village pubs situated not too far along the Canal.
