Local Interests/Attractions

The Bunkhouse is 12 miles from the car park for Pen-y-fan, and 13 miles from Brecon Town. There are many excellent local walks and ideal local facilities for angling, canoeing, caving, horse riding and pony trekking. Climbing and hang gliding facilities are also within easy reach. Naturalists will enjoy the local flora and fauna, including possible sightings of the rare Red Kite.

This area of the Brecon Beacons is often referred to as the 'forgotten beacons' as there are fewer visitors, but it is truely beautiful. Fan Gihirych 726m high with a route being less crowded than Pen-y-fan and with breath taking views from the top.
